LOST/ ABANDONED - SWEET, GENTLE, FRIENDLY & PLAYFUL SAMOYED Does anyone know who owns this lovely, sweet natured dog? He was found on stage 4 of the Wilson Trail in Sai Kung, Hong Kong on the morning of Sunday 7 August 2011. He wasn't wearing a collar & looked like he had only been living rough for about a day. He was crudely shaven when found(although his feet still have long creamy white hair). He may have run away or he may have been abandoned (I think the latter as an abandoned cat was also found in the same place on the same day). He has an extremely sweet nature & was ready for cuddles from the moment I met him. He is very friendly ... (Read More)with adults and children, submissive around other dogs & would easily fit into any loving home. He has an AVID microchip & was registered to a pet shop in April 2008. The pet shop has no record of the owner. He is registered with the Hong Kong Government as a Samoyed but his face is quite Terrier like (a bit like 'Snowy' from the Tin Tin comics). It maybe that shaved Samoyeds look like this (I have only seen them with long hair). I have called him Snowy. I have given him a bath, cleaned his ears, wormed him & have taken him to the vets to be vaccinated & checked out. He has been heart worm tested (negative) and has been given a pro-heart injection & a general injection for Distemper/ Parvo-virus/ Leptospirosis etc. He has hip dysplasia so I have started him on Technyflex. He doesn't look like he has been walked much, so we are also building up his muscles slowly with regular short walks 3-4 times per day. The HK Governement wil transfer his licence to me & give him a rabies booster after 4 days; I will then take him to the vets to be neutered. He has been placed in a temporary foster home with kids until 26 August. He is happy but it is not ideal for him, as we really need to find him a new, loving permanent home ASAP (I have 4 big dogs of my own in a small house & I am going to the UK on 26 August, so unfortunately can't keep him). Can anyone please help with his vets bills, foster him from 26/8/11 &/ or offer him a new, forever home? Please ask your friends too! Many thanks & Woof Woof for any help that you can please offer. PIease Read Before Adopting a Samoyed in Hong Kong
Samoyed Dogs can make good pets in Hong Kong if they match your IifestyIe. The Samoyed is a gentle, fluffy, deceptively powerful working dog. Samoyeds are mellow, affectionate family pets that are wonderful with children. Sammies are very stubborn and training should be started as early as possible. Samoyeds are indiscriminate barkers and are far too friendly to make good guard dogs. Some Samoyeds can get along with cats, but this breed should not be in a home that has other types of pets. Sammies prefer cooler climates and can live in an apartment if they get enough exercise.
